Importance of Vastu Shastra in Homes

Doon Projects – Interior Designer and Construction company in Dehradun.

This article features basic facts about Vastu Shastra and its importance. Instead of overloading the readers with too much hard-to-understand information, We have tried to explain it as simply as possible.

Introduction

Vastu Shastra is a term that most of us have come across at some point. But do you know what Vastu Shastra actually mean? Is it some sort of superstition? No, Vastu Shastra is the science of architecture, including texts about the traditional Indian architectural system. It covers a wide range of topics, including design principles, layout, measurements, ground preparation, space arrangement, and spatial geometry. The designs incorporate geometric patterns, symmetry, and alignments according to ancient beliefs to connect architecture with nature.

Importance of Vastu Shastra in Interiors

To maintain the ecological balance, we must consider specific factors that influence our environment. Likewise, our home is an ecosystem that must be balanced to ensure healthy and prosperous living. Vastu Shastra helps to achieve this goal; let’s see how.

Vastu is based on aligning the home with the five elements of nature, i.e., Earth, water, fire, air, and space, also known as the Panchabhootas in the Vedic traditions. These five essential elements are energetically associated with cardinal directions (North, South, East, and West) and intercardinal directions (North-east, North-west, South-east, and South-west). The Panchabhoota constitute the basis of all life in the universe. All living creatures on this planet derive their existence from them. Balancing these elements in your home can help you maintain good energy and improve functionality for a long time.

Constructing the structure in compliance with Vastu is not enough. Vastu is also essential for the interiors of your home. The placement and arrangement of furniture, decors, accessories, plants, mirrors, wall color, lights, etc., impact the residents. And even if your home isn’t built according to Vastu, various remedies and solutions are available.

Let’s take an example; according to Vastu, mirrors should always be placed on the east and north walls of the house. You must be wondering why? I’ll tell you why; it is simple to understand if we look at it from another perspective. The sun rises in the east, and as the Earth rotates, its positions change, appearing to move towards the south and then west as the day progresses. If you mount the mirror on the east or north wall, you will have the best light throughout the day, and also, if you position it against the light, you may not be able to see your reflection as clearly.

Let’s take another example; according to Vastu, you should not sleep in the north direction. There is a scientific explanation for this too. According to some studies, the magnetic fields on Earth are concentrated at the North and South Poles. When you sleep with your head in the north, your body’s magnetic field interferes with the Earth’s. This can fluctuate your blood pressure and even cause headaches and heart problems.

These examples undoubtedly show that texts written in Vastu Shastra have meaning and are well researched. There is a reason behind every recommendation. If you are unable to follow the principles completely in your home due to certain limitations, following a few essential tips may be helpful.

A Few Vastu Tips for the interior of your home

These tips will help you make your space lively and more functional:

  • The kitchen should have even lighting to avoid shadows as this could be a problem when working. Also, you can install light fixtures on the ceiling and in the storage cabinet if possible.
  • Proper shades on the floor and table lamps are necessary to prevent glare and intense lighting in the room.
  • The main door should always be well lit to avoid tripping hazards and be well-aware, identify and see visitors clearly, especially at night.
  • The home must have plenty of natural light for health and well-being. It is also good for energy conservation.
  • For abundance and maintaining the balance of energy, use indoor plants in your home. They also purify the air.

Conclusion

For health, prosperity, happiness, harmony, and balance, following Vastu in your homes is a must. Vastu Shastra is based on thorough research. It is not just a faith but the science of architecture. Homes designed in compliance with Vastu result in more productivity, increased efficiency, better functionality, and elimination of uncertainties. To design your home according to Vastu, consult an expert. They can also help you find solutions for homes that are not built according to the Vastu.

Smart Homes With Artificial Intelligence And Internet Of Things in Uttarakhand

Doon Projects – Interior Designer and Construction company in Dehradun.

“There is nothing more important than a good, safe, and a secure home.” – Rosalynn Carter.

Dehradun: As you look around, you will see that we are surrounded by technology. Everything results from technological advancement from smartphones to computers, electronic gadgets, appliances, recording devices, and digital cameras. Today, technology affects nearly every aspect of life: communication, safety, transportation, socialization, health checkups, accounting, etc.

Home Automation in Dehradun

While technology is being used efficiently across the board, why not bring it to your home and make life easier and safer. As the world moves fast, people have turned to Smart home technology with AI (artificial intelligence) and the IoT (internet of things) for better management. This article will highlight all of the features and help you learn more about Smart Homes.

Concept of Smart Homes

Smart homes are characterized by the automatic control of all devices through an Internet connection at any given time remotely using a mobile phone or any other networked device. All the devices are interconnected via the internet and help users control functions like lighting, temperature, home theater, security access, cameras, television, appliances, and many more.

It is possible to create Smart Homes using wireless or hardwired technology. The devices are controlled by one home automation system and accessed through a primary source; a mobile phone, tablet, or laptop. Furthermore, a voice-controlled system is also available for handling gadgets and appliances.

Benefits of Smart Homes

We all want comfort and luxury in this fast-paced world. However, how can we achieve it? The easiest way is to opt for a Smart Home. Imagine entering a warm house in the cold winter. The temperature adjusted accordingly before you even reached it. All the devices respond to your command, and the lights are turned on as soon as you enter. Wouldn’t it make you feel good?

The list mentions the top four benefits of choosing Smart Home technology over regular one:

Interactivity: The best feature of a smart home is the excellent networking of all the devices. With excellent interconnectivity, you can seamlessly manage and monitor all connected devices from one primary device. By utilizing various available technological features, you can customize your device’s functionality to fit your needs. It helps you work more efficiently, increases the home’s productivity, and saves you a lot of time.

Remote Access: Remote access to your entire home is a real treat.

You can operate the device from anywhere. It allows you to control and keep a check on coexistent activities in your home. Countless features help you to manage your home effortlessly from one place. You just have to learn how to use an app on your smartphone and tablet.

Energy Conservation: Smart Home Technology can be helpful to you and the environment at the same time. Motion sensor devices save a lot of energy by turning on and off automatically when not in use. E.g., The temperature of your home can be adjusted using a smart thermostat, and lights can be programmed to turn on and off as the sun sets and rises. This saves a lot of energy and also lowers the electricity bill.

High Security: Nowadays, safety is a major concern. Leaving the kids and the elderly at home makes us constantly worry about their welfare. With smart home devices, you can easily monitor various activities inside your home. Moreover, you can also control the devices from anywhere. For instance, you can lock the doors with one tap; on the other hand, if you left the iron on or any other appliance on, you can also switch it off. Moreover, the system also alerts you when your home leaks or floods in real-time.

Available Technology in India

India is one of the fastest developing countries and has shown tremendous growth in science and technology. With the evolution of technology, Smart Homes are more prevalent than ever. Mentioned are the top three technologies available in India:

  • Wi-Fi Mesh Technology: This technology connects multiple IoT devices and offers smooth functionality without interruptions. It provides maximum coverage, ensuring that every device is well connected regardless of its location.
  • Smart Wi-Fi Technology: This technology enables the devices to communicate directly with the installed apps. Since Wi-Fi technology is integrated into smart products, it has become more convenient to install and use them effectively.
  • Voice Assistant Technology: This technology helps you control the devices using voice controls. It enables you to talk to smart devices, which in turn respond to your command. Examples include Alexa, Google Assistant, Siri, etc.

Major Devices and Their Features

What makes an ordinary home a Smart Home? The answer is its exceptional devices with smart technology. Today, there are a variety of devices available to control every part of your home. All of these devices are equipped with outstanding features to help streamline your day-to-day life. They have automatic controllers and sensors to adjust according to your command and environment. With these devices, you can stream your favorite music, lock the doors, clean your house and do more such activities without touching anything. They are installed in a home according to one’s needs. Here is a list of some widely used devices:

Based in Dehradun, Uttrakhand, India, the company has been working proactively to deliver quality projects. The range of services extends from customized furniture to ceiling, modular kitchens, wall paneling, and front facade design. Whatever the problem, the company has all the solutions.

Ever heard of Prefabrication? If not, this article will help you learn everything you need to know.

What is Prefabrication?

Prefabrication is when all the structure parts are collected and arranged offsite in a manufacturing unit or a factory. Once fully assembled, these prefabricated assemblies and sub-assemblies are transported to the construction site, where the structure is to be built.

About Prefabricated Structures

In modern building practices, prefabricated structures are a boon. Compared to conventionally constructed structures, they save a tremendous amount of time, money, and materials.

Traditional construction methods require transporting materials such as bricks, stones, timber, cement, sand, steel, construction aggregate, etc., to the site. While in Prefabrication, only the foundations are built on-site, and all other components, such as wall sections, roofs, and floors, are made in a factory and bolted together on site. Prefabricated units are not limited to building construction and architecture but are also used extensively in the interior. It includes doors, windows, stairs, wall panels, floor panels, partitions, roof trusses, and entire buildings.

Benefits of Prefabrication

Before construction, we certainly think about many things, including gathering resources, labor, materials, etc. All of these factors can be pretty tiresome for you to manage. The most famous building technique today, Prefabrication, saves you the hassle of building from scratch. Besides being one of the most innovative construction methods, it has several other benefits, such as:

  • It is often less expensive to move sub-assemblies out of a factory than to move pre-produced resources to each location.
  • Provisioning resources on site can result in additional costs; the Prefabrication of assemblies can save costs by reducing the work on site.
  • Prefabrication minimizes the need to deploy many skilled workers to the site.
  • Using factory tools such as cranes, jigs, conveyors, hydraulic testers, shake tables, etc., results in faster, more accurate, and higher quality production.
  • Indoor factory environments help eliminate the most restrictive conditions, such as lack of water, power, exposure to a hazardous environment, and weather’s effects on production.
  • Factory production also promotes hassle-free, healthier, and safe construction practices.

Materials Used in Prefabrication

It is a myth that Prefab structures are made out of poor-quality materials. Prefabrication involves using the same materials as used in traditional building practices innovatively. Here is a list of some of the most widely used materials:

  • Concrete
  • Steel
  • Wood
  • Glass
  • Recycled and reclaimed materials

With the help of the materials mentioned above, any component such as panels, roofs, walls, columns, beams, blocks, etc., can be manufactured. The only difference is that they are pre-casted.

Installation (brief)

The installation process of prefabricated structures is comparatively less complicated. It involves a few simple steps, namely:

1. Casting:

It involves preparing precast structure parts in various shapes and sizes according to the requirements. E.g., For example, cement concrete is poured into a mold of the desired shape, and later a vibrator is used to avoid lumps, unwanted lines, or honeycombs inside. Wood panels are pre-casted using different tools, machines, and techniques.

2. Curing:

The casted components are further cured into a casting container. This ensures that the cement is adequately hydrated, controls moisture, humidity controlled, and a conducive temperature is maintained in cement concrete slabs. For various other materials, steps are taken accordingly.

3. Transportation:

After completion, all prefabricated parts are loaded onto large trucks and transported to the construction site.

4. Erection:

It is a process in which all components are assembled on-site with the help of cranes and skilled workers.

Reasons for the Growing Demand for Prefabrication

Prefabrication has seen significant growth in the commercial and residential sectors in recent years due to rapid infrastructure development, population growth, and urbanization. These days, people prefer prefab structures as they are affordable, time-saving, highly sustainable, and energy-efficient. Prefab houses have positively influenced the market. In addition, prefabricated construction offers strength to the structures, allowing buildings to withstand earthquakes.

Further, a few additional factors contribute to the market’s growing demand for prefabricated structures, such as:

  • Projects concerning the Mass Townships
  • A rise in the demand for branded designers
  • Rising opportunities in developing countries
  • Market expansion for prefabricated homes
  • Increased focus on the three pillars of profit, people, and planet

Uttarakhand and Prefabrication

Uttarakhand is one of the most beautiful states in India. Crossed by the great Himalayas, Uttarakhand is known for its scenic beauty, climate, food, fun-loving people, and serene environment. The State is all about balance; In addition to development, people also care about nature. The recent development in Uttarakhand has resulted in the destruction of many forests and the depletion of enormous resources.

Most Uttarakhand regions are mountainous, making it challenging to carry construction practices; deploying materials and labor can be a huge task. Weather conditions also lead to many other issues, such as delays in construction and wastage of materials. Prefabrication could play a crucial role in helping the State develop sustainably. As mentioned in the article, Prefab construction practices will result in less consumption and more output. If we opt for Prefabrication, it will save us a lot of hassle, time, and resources.

Conclusion:

In summary, it can be said that Prefabrication helps you to manage your project efficiently, cost-effectively, and sustainably. Also, modern building practices are likely to replace traditional building practices in the future. There are many reasons to choose prefab building practices for your home, and trust us when we say you won’t be disappointed. Contact a professional if you wish to avail prefabrication services. You can contact Doon Projects and Construction for areas in and around Uttarakhand.
